New Partial and Your Oral Hygiene Regimen

Posted .

Your new partial effectively restores the appearance and full function of multiple lost teeth. Including it in your oral hygiene regimen, will insure that it continues to serve you for many years to come.

A lot of people who have a partial use denture adhesive to secure it firmly in place and help block out food particles. If you do have some food particles work their way between the partial and your gums, you should thoroughly rinse the unit and reapply fresh adhesive.

Each night, when you take the partial out, you should rinse away all the residual denture adhesive. This will give you a smooth surface to re-apply the denture adhesive the next day.

Once the denture adhesive is cleared away, you should brush all the surfaces with a soft bristled toothbrush and denture polish. Then you can soak your partial overnight in water and keep it in a safe place.

Once your partial is thoroughly cleaned you can then brush and floss your teeth, as a regular oral hygiene regimen. Make sure you floss around the gum line of the teeth surrounding the partial, so they will stay healthy and strong.
